Technology Strategic Planning
Technology implementation is a continuing process. This page is an
evolving resource for staff, faculty and the community to participate in
the continuing development of a technology vision for the Dover/Sherborn
Public Schools. We are interested in the longer term view
and continuously work to develop a perspective five years in the future.
Listed below are resources to review in order to understand past
planning and some of the forces driving changes.
The Dover/Sherborn Public Schools originally developed a Technology Plan
in 1997 and later revised that plan in 1998 and 1999. View the old Technology Plan, Dover Sherborn Public Schools dated March 29, 1999.
The districts no longer maintain a static document as a Strategic Plan.
This web site and its pages are maintained as an active, continually
changing record of the Technology Program and its strategic vision.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Education, (DoE)
provides guidance through policy documents related to technology.
Several are provided below:
The Local Technology Benchmark
Standards for the Year 2003, published in May 2000 provided guidance
to school departments in the submission of Technology Plans that would
meet state and federal requirements.
The DoE eventually provided for an electronic update of Technology Plans
through the Tech Plan
Updates, Electronic Forms Preview, published in May 2001. This
document provided guidance for the submission of annual updates to
district Technology Plans directly to a DoE database.
The Massachusetts PreK-12
Instructional Technology Standards provide guidelines for
implementing technology. This document was issued by the DoE in October,
2001. Though the document deals primarily with curriculum issues,
it contains specific guidelines for student-to-computer ratios,
technical support, and other technical subjects in Appendix 2.
Legal Issues & Education Technology: A School Leader's Guide, Second
Edition, National School Boards Association, 2001, is a very valuable
document in planning policies and guidelines for the use of technology.
This document can be obtained through the
NSBA web site.
Comments, questions and recommendations are encouraged from staff, students, and
community members to help improve the technology program and its future.
Please contact Dan Gallagher, Technology Manager by
email if you would
like to participate or contribute.
