Donation of Equipment
The
Dover / Sherborn Public Schools welcome the donation of computer
equipment from the community. However, there is a cost associated with
upgrading the computers, loading software, and introducing them to our
networks. Therefore, a minimum computer configuration must be
established for accepting donations.
The
districts benefit most from the donation of several computers with the
same configuration, particularly from companies that previously had the
computers on networks. Donations of a single computer will
not necessarily be discouraged, but modern networks are most efficient
with standardized platforms that can take advantage of disk imaging
technology.
The
minimum standard for a donated personal computer is a Pentium III processor,
256Mb of random access memory (RAM) and a 10 Gigabyte hard disk
drive.
