Skills: -Identify parts of the body using the correct definite & indefinite article. -To correctly use the verb “doler” with indirect object pronouns in both statements & questions. -Using the expression “¿Cuánto tiempo hace que…?” to ask how long something has been hurting or for how long someone has been sick. -“Tener”
expressions – Tener frío, tener calor, etc… -A few reflexive verbs – quedarse, lastimarse, sentirse -Stem-changing verbs – o à ue – Emphasis on the verb dormir. -Indirect Object Pronouns (me, te, le, nos, os, les) -La sustantivación de adjetivos – Be able to say “The left one” instead of
“The left arm” for example. Me duele el brazo izquierdo à Me duele

Instructional Strategies & Activities: -Presentation of vocabulary – Students stand up and model what I do. We touch parts of our body and say the word in Spanish. -Vocabulary Bingo -Card game – 2 teams, each student has 4 words – 1st person to shout out Spanish word gets a point for their team -Language Lab activities. Repetition of Vocabulary. Voices are recorded and played back to students. -Drawing activity. Students are giving a sentence in Spanish. They need to draw a picture that represents that sentence. Students pass pictures around and write sentences to describe the pictures. For example: A Juan le duelen las piernas. -Use of pictures from website - http://www.sla.purdue.edu/fll/JapanProj/FLClipart/ to practice use of vocabulary. Examples of pictures:
-Students take notes on stem-changing verbs. -Practice the verb dormir by interviewing classmates to see how long they sleep. -Students perform skit in front of class. One plays the role of the doctor and one plays the role of the patient. -Video & Audio activities that accompany textbook. |
