·        What exactly is Cinco de Mayo, anyway ?    - ¿Qué es el cinco de mayo ?

 

 

Learning Objectives:

 

·        Describe the types of food that one can order at a Mexican restaurant.

·        Talk about what ingredients certain dishes are made of.

·        Be able to order food politely in a restaurant

·        Describe how one should set a table in target language.

·        Talk about past actions using any regular verb that we have learned.

·        Say what you ate or drank.

·        Compare and contrast family dinners in Mexico and the U.S.

·        Understand where Cinco de Mayo Celebrations originated from

·        Taste authentic Mexican food

 

 

Skills:

 

·1  Food & Restaurant Vocabulary (specifically that used in Mexican cuisine)

·2  Use of ‘¿Con qué se hace…” & “Se hace con…” to talk about what  dish is made of.

·3  Use of the expressions “He probado” & “Has probado” to talk about what one has tried.

·4  E to I stem-changing verbs (pedir, servir) in the present tense.

·5  Preterite tnese of regular “er” & “ir” verbs.

·6  Verb “traer” and its present tense conjugations to ask a waiter/waitress to bring you something.

·7  Use of the verb “faltar” and an indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, nos, os, les) to talk about what someone is missing and/or needs.

·8  Cultural look at the indigenous foods of the Americas before the arrival of Europeans.
