Learning Objectives: · Describe your favorite and least favorite kinds of TV shows. · Describe your favorite and least favorite kinds of movies. · Compare / rate movies and TV shows · Tell when events begin and end. · Tell how long events last. · State why you like or don’t like a certain TV show. · Talk about what you saw in the past. · Understand how American movies are dubbed in Spanish for the Spanish audience · Compare Major American Networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) with Spanish Television (Telemundo, Univision) |

Skills: · Identify types of movies and TV shows in target language. · Reading a movie schedule in Spanish and having a conversation discussing what is being shown and at what times. · Using the verbs “dar” and “durar” correctly when talking about movies and TV shows. · Use of direct & indirect object pronouns. · Correct placement of object pronouns in a sentence. · Use of “más…que” and “menos…que’ to compare two things. · Use of the superlative in Spanish. · Being able to correct conjugate and use the verb “ver” in the preterite tense. |

Instructional Strategies & Activities: ·1 Introduction of Vocabulary. Quick spelling bee of new words that students never heard of to quickly assess their listening comprehension and spelling skills. ·2 Listening and repetition of new vocabulary. ·3 Vocabulary Bingo. ·4 Card game- 2 teams, each student has 4 words – 1st person to shout out Spanish word gets a point for their team. ·5 Notes on indirect object pronouns and the placement of both direct & indirect object pronouns. ·6 Language lab activities – paired activities. Recording of their voices so students can hear their progress of speaking abilities. ·7 Video & audio activities accompanied by worksheets. ·8 Oscar voting. Unit usually is taught during Oscar time and we devote 2 days to the Oscars and discuss who we think will win and why in target language. ·9 Paired activity using movie schedule from Loews Boston Common – students have to ask partner a series of questions to figure out what is showing and when. ·10 Hangman, Matching, Jeopardy, Battleship and other games on www.quia.com |
