the sum of its parts? Is it enough to
know your part and be able to technically play it in band? |

Learning Objectives: Have instrument, music and pencil. Keep music neat. Respect and pay attention to Mr. Duprey. Attend all
performances. Practice a minimum of 30
minutes per day, 5 days per week.
Perform scales/rudiments, rhythmic/technical studies and band material
to a competent level. |

Skills: 1 octave chromatic sale. Major scales (0 – 4 flats). ¦¼,³¼ and ²¼ time signatures. Rhythms containing ¬, ., , ±. Ö, ±, Öµ and ¶¶¶». Play in tune and with balance and blend. |

Instructional Strategies & Activities: Establish a routine; both for band rehearsal and home
practice…these should be parallel.
Drill scales and rhythms. Play
chorales for intonation and blend/balance. |

Materials Utilized: Text = “Accent on Achievement” book one. Band Music = Grade 1 – 1.5 |

Assessment Strategies: Concert performances (the culmination of Skills and
Activities). Compliance with rehearsal
and performance criteria outlined in “Learning Objectives” above. |
