   What is the difference between a real-life solution and an algebraic solution?

   When is it more efficient than words in expressing relationships?

Learning Objectives:    

   Use order of operations.

   Simplify and evaluate expressions involving grouping symbols and absolute value.

   Solve equations given a domain.

   Translate word phrases and sentences into algebraic expressions and equations.  

   Translate word problems into algebraic equations.

   Interpret and use the number line, and the ideas of opposites and absolute value.

   Simplify expressions and evaluate algebraic expressions.

   Read and interpret word problems.
