   What is meant by a percent?

   When are percents used in the real-world?

   What percentages are commonly used in the real world?  (i.e. sales tax, tip, etc.)

Learning Objectives:    

   Convert amongst fractions, decimals, and percents.

   Translate basic percent problems into algebraic expressions.

   Solve word problems using percents.

   Calculate basic percentages (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) using mental math.

Skills:  

   Perform long division.

   Solve basic algebraic equations.

   Read and interpret word problems.
