Learning Objectives:

  • To gain an understanding of health related physical fitness
  • To get students involved in designing a personal fitness program specifically targeted to their own individual fitness preferences and levels
  • To develop a working knowledge of what the cardiovascular and respiratory functions do during exercise
  • To motivate students to practice fitness while encouraging others
  • To make fitness fun

Instructional Strategies & Activities:

  • Cooperative learning activities to keep students on task and also to keep their interest levels high
  • Introduction of weight training and cardiovascular training from instructor
  • Keep a log of their day- to-day progress in a journal
  • Allow students to design and create a personal fitness program that meets their needs
