A. P. Statistics

Grading Policy

You will be graded on the following criteria:

Pop Quizzes No Warning About 10 points
Quizzes 2 Day Warning About 30 points
Projects Length Varies 10 - 100 points
Tests 4 Day Warning 100 points
Class Participation Calculated Each Term One half-grade Maximum

Statistics is a high level of mathematics.  You are expected to complete all of your homework, including readings.  If you do not, then you do not have the dedication necessary to be successful at this level of mathematics and you may be dropped from the class.  Everyone is encouraged to take the AP Exam in May.

A three ring notebook is suggested.  Notebooks should contain all of the following separate sections:

*a notes section with dates

*a homework section with dates and page numbers

*a vocabulary section (optional)

*a section to keep all of your tests, quizzes, and all graded projects.

*an “other” section for all extra materials and loose papers.

You will be given 2 free homework points at the beginning of each semester.  You will lose one point every time you miss a homework, only partially complete a homework, forget your book, have an uncovered book, have an unexcused tardy, or are not prepared for class.  Simply writing answers is not sufficient for homework—work must be shown.  No exceptions.

A calculator is necessary for this class.  A TI-83 is strongly suggested.  You may not share calculators on tests or quizzes.  If you do not have a calculator on test or quiz day, do not ask to leave to go get one—you will need to do the calculations by hand.

Class participation includes:  attendance, tardies, bringing books to class, bringing a pencil to class, volunteered contributions, attention, respect, and cooperation.

Extra credit work is available only on rare occasions and only for those giving complete efforts.  It will not be offered to students who have incomplete homework assignments or are late to class.

Extra help sessions:                   Monday – Thursday

I am almost always available upon request.
