You will be reading from a host of different newspaper sources. You will be watching American nightly news coverage that focuses on the conflict, as well as watching streaming videos from the "Mosaic" site that feature coverage of the conflict from the media perspective of different middle eastern nations. Assignment Requirements: 1) On one day, you will read newspaper coverage that covers the conflict. You will read a total of four articles--one must be from the BBC, one from the Fox News site, one from a news paper in the Middle East, and one from either the New York Times or the Boston Globe (or some other nationally recognized newspaper of your choice). 2) On another day, you are to watch the nightly news and look for coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Follow this up with viewing a news piece from the "Mosaic" site. 3) Choose 3 cartoons (all from different national sources) that comment upon the conflict.
For each media you choose, you will be writing a 1-2 page analysis that compares/contrasts the interpretation of the events. A complete analysis will include: 1) A description of each story or cartoon 2) An analysis of bias revealed in the story or cartoon. 3) An examination of key points that are either emphasized or not included.
