Algebra II Honors

Topics for Quest 3.4-3.5

You are ready for the quest if you can do the following types of problems:

ÿ       Given an equation describe the transformations that need to be made to the parent function in order to produce the graph and sketch a graph.  Completing the square could be necessary for a quadratic.  (3.4)

ÿ       Compare and contrast transformations.  For example, which is wider 3x^2 or 10x^2 and why.  (3.4)

ÿ       Given a graph of a function, develop the equation.  (3.4)

ÿ       Given a function to start with and a listing of transformations, create the equation.  (3.4)

ÿ       Given a point on the graph of f(x) determine what point must be on the graph after certain transformations occur.  (3.4)

ÿ       Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing, and Composing to create a new function.  (3.5)

ÿ       Evaluating a composite function.  For example, given f(x) and g(x) find f(g(2)).  (3.5)

ÿ       Finding the domain of a composite function.  (3.5)

ÿ       Decomposing composite functions.  (3.5)
