Topics for Quiz 2.1-2.4

You are ready for Quiz 2.1-2.4 if you can do the following types of problems:

q     Identify what quadrant a point is in.

q     Determine the midpoint of a segment when given the endpoints or a graph of the segment.

q     Use a given midpoint and a given endpoint to determine the other endpoint.

q     Use the distance formula to determine the distance between two points.

q     Use the distance formula to determine the coordinates of points that are a fixed number of units away from a fixed point. (p. 152 #25)

q     Determine the intercepts when given a graph or an equation.  Give intercepts as points.

q     Determine the symmetry when given a graph.

q     Show all three symmetry tests to determine the symmetry of a graph when given an equation.

q     Determine if a point is on a line.

q     Graph a line.

q     Determine the equation of a line when given a graph, or a point and a slope, or two points.

q     Write the equation of vertical/horizontal lines.

q     Use the known slopes of parallel, perpendicular, vertical, and horizontal lines in order to develop equations.

q     Determine the equation of a circle when given the center and the radius.

q     Determine the radius and center of a circle when given an equation.  It may necessary to complete the square in order to identify the center and radius.

q     Describe the motion of the walker when given a distance/time graph in either Hiker or DT Match. (CBL lab)

q     Sketch a distance verses time graph of a walker when given a description of the walker’s motion. (CBL lab)
