Algebra II Honors Topics for Quest 3.6 and 4.1
You are ready for the quest if you can do the following types of problems:
¨ Write a mathematical model (distance, area, surface area, total cost…etc.) ¨ Write a piecewise mathematical model. (mechanic and cell phone problems on previous assessments) ¨ State the domain of a mathematical model by considering the context constraints. ¨ Use your graphing calculator to graph a function and determine the maximum or the minimum. ¨ Algebraically determine the maximum or minimum of a quadratic model. ¨ Determine if a quadratic opens up or down. ¨ Determine the equation of the axis of symmetry for a quadratic function. ¨ Algebraically determine the vertex of a quadratic function. ¨ Determine the intercepts of a quadratic function. ¨ Run a Quadreg to determine the quadratic that fits points and use that model to determine other information such as the max or min. ¨ Given a point on f(x) determine a point on some transformed function. ¨ Complete the square and describe how to graph a quadratic function in standard form.
