Algebra II Honors Topics for Chapter 1 Test
You are ready for Chapter 1 Test if you can do the following types of problems:
q Solve linear equations and equations that may not initially appear to be linear but turn into linear equations. (1.1) q Use your graphing calculator to approximate the solution (2nd Trace, #5 Intersection) (1.1) q Rewrite formulas in terms of a specified variable. (1.1) q Set up and solve linear word problems. This will include but is not limited to interest, mixture, working together, constant rate and uniform motion problems. (1.2) q Solve a quadratic equation by factoring, square root method, completing the square, and quadratic formula. (1.3) q Determine the number of real solutions of a quadratic using the discriminant. (1.3) q Set up and solve quadratic word problems. (1.3) q Solve radical equations. (1.4) q Solve problems that are quadratic-like using u-substitution. (1.4) q Solve simple and combined inequalities. Be able to give your solution as an inequality, a graph on a number line, and in interval notation. (1.5) q Create equivalent inequalities. (i.e. Find “a” and “b” such that…) (1.5) q Solve absolute value equations. (1.6) q Solve absolute value inequalities. (1.6)
