Other Class Information

1.          Keep a complete notebook with all class notes, assignments, quizzes, and other handouts.  Try to keep everything in order chronologically, for example, keep all chapter 1 stuff together (including quizzes), then chapter 2 stuff, etc.  Also, have one section in the back for SAT practice problems that will be assigned throughout the year.  You will probably want to invest in a 3-ring binder with some dividers to GET and STAY organized.

2.         You may make up any quiz or test up to a maximum of 70%.  So if you want a better grade than a C-, make sure you are prepared BEFORE each exam!  You must arrange to take the makeup after school.

3.         If you are absent, you must show the assignment that was due that day on the first day that you return.  Also, if you missed a quiz (but you were present the day it was announced), be prepared to take it that first day you return.

4.         Late take home assignments will receive a 10% per day grade reduction.  So after 10 days, it’s a 0.  Daily homework assignments are not accepted late.  Each is given a score of 0, ½, or 1 point depending on amount complete and effort made.

5.         Come to class ON TIME.  Three tardies to class gets you a detention with me.  But ONE major tardy (5 minutes with no valid pass) gets you an automatic teacher detention.  If you are late to first block, you must first report in at the office and arrive with a valid pass.

6.         Homework assignments and other class information will be posted on my webpage.  Just follow links to the mathematics department, and then save that location as your most favorite site.  And please inform parents that email is the quickest way to contact me.  Email: cheveriec@doversherborn.org

7.         The one supply you must own is a graphing calculator.  The TI 83+, or 84+ is sufficient and does everything that you would need to do in this course.  And keep in mind that there will be class quizzes/tests (or sections of tests) with NO calculator of ANY type allowed.

8.         Now, the “small print”:  The grading process and class “rules” above are subject to change, if necessary.  Any reasonable changes or additions may be made, and students will be informed in class prior to the change.
