Geometry

This college preparatory course covers all the topics of a traditional geometry course with a more

numerical approach and a constant review of algebraic methods. The topics covered in this course

include definitions, postulates, theorems, problem solving, perpendicular and parallel lines, polygons,

circles, congruence, similarity, constructions, areas, and volumes. Emphasis is placed on applications

of geometric concepts.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to

· identify, measure and construct different two dimensional shapes

· calculate areas and volumes of two dimensional and three dimensional figures

· think critically and logically in problem solving

· apply learned geometric properties in solving problems

· use calculators and computers appropriately for problem solving and for developing

   constructions
