PhotoShop Exploration Project:
Objective: The goal of this project is to become
familiar with using PhotoShop as a photographic and artistic tool. Some of
you have already begun to experiment with the many capabilities of
PhotoShop. Some of you have only used the program for minor enhancing,
cropping and sharpening. This project will require you to use PhotoShop to
fulfill two very different objectives. The first objective will be to make
a multi-scale mosaic image, and the second will be to experiment with the many
different filters and effects to dramatically alter a photograph in an artistic
way.
To learn how to make a multi-scale image, click on the link
to the left.
I will leave the playing in PhotoShop to you. Try
using all the different filters and effects, one at a time, on a photograph to
get a sense of the different options. I then give you full freedom to
experiment. Try to do unconventional adaptations. The more your
picture is manipulated and shaped by an idea or theme, and the less randomly
altered it seems, the more compelling it will be. But by all means
experiment with random effects to get ideas. Enough said. Have fun!
Requirements: To complete this project, you must
add a new thumb-nailed gallery to your on-line portfolio that contains eight new
pictures. Two of the pictures should be multi-scale images, and six of
them should be artistically enhanced images. For the enhanced image, I
want you to include the original. You need to have at least 3 different
images in the second part. The original pictures do not count towards the
required six. You will have a little more than one rotation to complete
this assignment.
